Missing home? The Cure to Homesickness: California Whiskey Sour

California Whiskey Sours the perfect remedy for a homesick heart. Lemon, Lime, Whiskey and Chardonnay come together beautifully for an instant vacation back to California

California Whiskey Sour

Sometimes the day just needs to end with a drink. Try this California whiskey sour inspired by the Cheesecake Factory for a boozey way to end the day.

Living over seas can be a challenge. Living in the States can be a challenge! Either way, this drink is the cure to a challenging day.

It has the perfect mix of sweet and sour. The citrus cuts into the bitterness of the alcohol. The wine adds a rounded sweetness along with the brown sugar.

Yes, it’s sweet, yet packs a punch. It reminds me of the California sun with the crisp white wine. The best part about using white wine is it makes it an ideal mixed drink here in Africa as well. Cape Town has many similarities with California (one of the many reasons it is on my Southern Africa Bucket List) and mastering white wine is one of those. Lucky me, Cape Town White Wine is easy to get and fairly affordable.

This is an excellent drink for an after work home happy hour, or just a nice concoction to sip on in the backyard to get you in the mood for cooking dinner. A long day at work and missing home? I know how I will unwind tonight. Care to join?
